Fantasy Miniatures Part 3. (Dwarves)

Dwarves!

In the picture below I have tried to cram in as many of my old Dwarves as possible. There are actually some more Alternative Armies ones that somehow managed to escape the shot. No doubt down the "Crippled Dwarf Tavern" having a few pints of Bugmans Old Peculiar.

My dwarf army. A fair amount to paint then...

Left side: From the back, left we have a unit of Citadel slotta-based Norse Dwarf warriors led by a Lord of the Rings ME15 Gimli. In front of them are another unit of slotta-based Citadel. Next is yet another! Next in front is a unit of Asgard Dwarven Warriors then a final unit of Citadel slotta-based Imperial Dwarves.

Middle: First up is a mixed group of older Asgard and really old Citadel including a 'pirate' dwarf and a Grenadier figure. In front of them is another mixed unit of mainly old Citadel Dwarf thieves and a couple of Runequest Dwarves. Next is a mixed unit of crossbow armed Dwarves by Citadel, Grenadier and Asgard. In front of them is a unit of Citadel Northern Dwarves. Finally we have a unit of Bugmans Rangers.

Right: At the top is a unit from Grenadier Battle Lords. Next is a group of very early Citadel Dwarves and in front of them some more pre-slotta Northern Dwarves. Then another Asgard group and a further unit of Bugmans troops.

Along the front is the old Citadel Dwarf cannon! Next to this are Bomban Ironbeater, the Royal Armourer and Cyril Bear, the Royal Mascot, plus a wily old codger charged with looking after Cyril!

The final five are a couple of miner from Alternative Armies, a old Dwarf, an early boxed set Dwarf by Bryan Ansell (Odan Grimbeard) and a Runequest Dwarf adventurer.

The Dwarf Kings Court.

Standing proudly at the very front are the Dwarf Kings Court - (l-r back) Royal Guard Mimbrin, Corbit Shortstuff the Jester, Oran Dragonsmiter, the Queens father, Clando the Bane, Dwarf Lord of some repute, Sgt. Dimgol, the Master of the Guard. (l-r front) Quintin Limpfondle, the Queens Champion, Queen Asabelle Dragonsmiter, King Dumin Ironbeard, Fungil Wisebeard, the Sage and finally Orizad Oldrock, the Kings Champion.

Enough with the Dwarf stuff already!

With thanks to the "STUNTIES" website!

Fantasy Miniatures Part 2. (Orcs!)

This time a selection of my old Orcs. I am almost ashamed to say but back in the day I was less worried about painting every single miniature I bought before they got to see the table so most of these brutes would have seen some combat!

Having said that, some of these chaps did get a lick of paint and considering how old they are (I am much more careful with my painting now) they still hold up to a reasonable tabletop standard...just. Perhaps a little bit of work on them and some new bases?

The army / rabble assembles...

Early C15 and C16 Citadel Orcs.

Above: These are some of the really early Citadel Citadel FTO Fantasy Tribe Orcs, later known as C15 Armoured Orcs and C16 Orcs. Really like the one in the middle with the serrated sword and shield.

Garag 'Spinebreaker', the fearsome Orc chieftan.

Can't remember the manufacturer of the above but he is a great looking mini. Really mean looking and not a bad paint job either!

Orc warriors prepare for a rumble. Harboth lurks in the background.

In the pic above you can just about see Harboth and some of his Black Mountain Boys. These were one of the first of the Regiments of Reknown sets and I managed to get them all apart from the champion figure who I believe was released later as a slotta-base figure.

Harboth and the Black Mountain Boys.

I particularly like the standard bearer and his 'pole with some skulls on it' - none of this flashy flags stuff for Harboth and the lads!

Garag and his entourage.

Another shot of the army.

In the shot above you can see the different ranges and manufacturers - front left are some Black Orcs and Hobgoblins from the Chronicle range by Nick Lund. Behind them are some Citadel Half-Orcs. Next are some early Grenadier Orcs from the Battle Lords set 'Army of the Black River'. At the back is the Citadel Man Mangler. In the centre are a selection C15, C16 and other Citadel Orcs, some on slotta-bases (my last purchases) and at the rear are a handful of old Citadel Goblins. To the right of the picture are a horde of Grenadier 'Fantasy Warrior' Orcs and behind them are the Goblin Raiding Party boxed set, which I have actually started to paint recently!

The 'Man Mangler' war engine.

Above is the Orc Man Mangler from the early 90's, unfortunately missing a couple of crew. I am sure they can cope.

A last shot before being packed away again - time for Orcie bye-bye...

Figures are predominantly Citadel from across the years but the are also some from the Grenadier and Chronicle ranges, possibly some from Asgard with a couple more from who knows where.

Next up - Dwarves!

Mystery Solved!

Finally managed to track down the identity of the 'mystery figure' - was looking at the Mega-Minis site as suggested by Jagatai (thankyou) and in a round about way decided I was looking for a Barbarian of some sort. To cut a long story short I found the Lost Minis website and searched for 'Barbarians' - first thing that came up was the 'Barbarian Personalities' set from Asgard, sculpted by Jes Goodwin (who did lots of Citadel stuff) and though there wasn't a picture I deduced he was 'BP8 Aurock Storrirkin' - Stuff of Legends fortunately had pic and confirmed this:

He is the one on the bottom left. Don't know why this bothered me so much but I was on a mission to find out - I am usually pretty good at identifying old minis and was determined to track this one down! Thanks for the suggestions guys.
